Mushrooms have been enjoyed for thousands of years. They are fungi (not vegetables) with over 3000 edible varieties.

Most people enjoy the great taste and texture of mushrooms, which is enhanced during cooking. They are an integral ingredient in many recipes, including soups, salads, omelettes, casseroles and stews.

Mushrooms are very low in calories, have very little fat and about 10% of dry weight is fiber. Being so healthy, the are also ideal for people on diets.

They have many nutrients, such as copper (good for the heart) and potassium (lowers blood pressure and helps reduce risk of stroke). They also are a good source of vitamins such as riboflavin and niacin.

At P & L Rogers we produce mainly white button mushrooms.

Recent research has found that white button mushrooms may reduce the risk of breast and prostate cancer.
